I'm in training to run the 2009 Boston Marathon with Tedy's Team...Can you help support my efforts?
I’m training again with Heidi and Tedy Bruschi to run the 2009 Boston Marathon to benefit Tedy's Team! It has been just under 2 years since my heart surgery to repair the hole in my heart that caused my stroke. I am blessed to report I have been migraine free with a clear head for exactly that same time period and have almost completely recovered from my stroke.
Although I am healed, there is still so much more work that needs to be done and this is why I continue to run with Tedy's Team. As it turns out during my stroke season, I discovered many physicians also need more training and awareness to screen for stroke, especially where it relates to this possible heart/brain/migraine connection. It is my goal to help raise awareness for stroke by advocating for research to develop a better understanding of this connection between the heart and brain and improve education, awareness and screening tools for physicians, coaches, and parents.
To that end, I continue to run with Tedy's Team and the Boston and Rhode Island affiliates of the American Heart/Stroke Associations to help raise awareness. There is a great need for better education and research because as you may already know this heart defect can be potentially devastating, especially for young stroke and migraine survivors that often get misdiagnosed or ignored due to age. This is why I run and why I am asking for your support.
Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to my cause by donating to the American Stroke Association directly through this secure page or please contact me if you'd prefer to mail in your donation. ANY gift amount will be greatly appreciated.
By visiting my personal weblog at www.know-stroke.org, you'll learn about my stroke hero, Jamie Coyle (http://www.fightfor7.com/) a young stroke survivor from Cumberland I am running in honor of this year. You'll also get updates on the new goals I’ve set as well as what I've accomplished in the past year to help raise awareness.
Thank you and best regards,
David Dansereau
